Hi, I have been on methadone for almost 5 years and feel like I am in a vicious circle.  For the past few years my doctor has had to increase my dosage many times to stop the withdrawl symptoms.  Everytime I had my dosage increased I get really sleepy too sleepy for a week or two and then I am sick all over again.  The doctor and I have tried to come up with different ways to stop the withdrawl for the past two years I am on a splip dose, meaning I take half the dosage in the morning and by noon I am sick again so I take the tother half at noon by 3pm I am sick again and stay sick all day and night til the next morning when I can take my next dosage.  It is so frustrating.  I thought metadone would make my life better but for three quarters of the days I am suffering from leg cramps, severe stomach pain, sweating, my eyes water really badly and that is just a start. i have to take gravol to stop the nausea I feel ilke I am going to pass out sometimes it is so bad.  Please someone tell me if they experience the same things or if anyone can give me some insight.  It seems like I am getting use the each increase and then I have to increase again to get the same effect. Meanin no withdrawl.  I had the fatigue and I don't want to go up anymore.  What is the solution?

I don't have the answer for you but I must say You have alot of guts to get off of it all.  Did you go off methadone cold turkey I am on it now and I feel like it is a never ending cycle of up and down all the time. For you sleep I would say take whatever sleep you can get for now.  I know what sleepless nights feel like and If you can get some sleep during the day after your meds then rest as best as you can. Good luck and I hope someone else can give you some good advice.
