So it's last Wednesday I got my vaccination, and it's Monday 5 days later , and my arm is still very sore, I see by other comments that this may be common , however can anyone explain why it is so painful?  I am a hairstylist by trade, and this pain is making my job very uncomfortable, as well as sleeping? And yes Advil does make it feel better , I don't like taking Advil as I full well know what it can do to my body organs but am thankful for it !

I got a Tdap shot 3 months ago and I still have pain in the muscle of my arm.  As long as I don't use it, it doesn't hurt very much, but as soon as I raise up my arm or use that arm by lifting, etc.  it starts hurting again.  I am doing range of motion exercises with a pulley, but I don't see any improvement.  I'm thinking of going to an Orthopedic Dr.  My MD has not helped me to get better.  I am 74 yrs. old - maybe my age is working against me

Tetanus vaccination is widely available in all parts of the world and although fairly safe in most individuals, toxoid shots are associated with side effects in some genetically susceptible individuals. Most side effects are minor and resolve without requiring any medical intervention.

I am on day 7 of extreme pain. Can't move arm/bascially, it's debilitated. I would have rather gotten a cut, suffered and infection and taken antibiotics than deal with this extreme pain. : (

I've been in extreme pain for 8 days. How long did your pain end up lasting?

When I had my first prenatal tetanus shot, it was so painless I barely felt the needle. The following day my backside was sore and the injection site swollen, I felt sick in my tummy and headaches.

And you have to remember that the tdap is the tetanus shot but also whooping cough (live virus so it sheds) and one more funny D word. So maybe a reaction to one of those. There are usually more than one kind of virus in vaccines

I've had pain and swelling in my arm after the shot. Also lost range of motion. Today's day 9 and it is getting better but still hurts and SWELLS. DON't ever want this again.

I received a tetanus shot on Wednesday. There nurse said there would be some soreness for a few days. I didn't not start feeling real pain until Saturday. I cannot raise my arm above my shoulder. It's Monday, and I'm staying home from work today. I called the Doctor's Office to tell them they need to do a better job of patient consulation about this shot. The side effects are devastating. It can be disabling especially if you have a physical job. I was just due for the shot --nothing was wrong. I will  not take it again unless it is a damn sure must  and then take the shot in the butt.

I got mine 24 hours ago. My arm is naturally very small. The shot did not hurt one bit, I actually was not sure if she had even done it yet when she walked away. My arm has been sore and swollen, it feels like there's a hard lump, but IT'S NOT THAT BAD. You guys are whimps. I've been stretching and swinging my arm around all day to loosen it up and it's really helped.
