The last time I had unprotected sex was about a month ago. I thought my period was never going to come, then it did about a week late. It wasn't as heavy as my usual period. Now, a week after my period, my breasts are still sore, I have lower back pain, I'm getting these weird headaches that come and go across my forehead. I also threw up a couple of times later at night.

I took a pregnancy test this afternoon and it read "not pregnant." Does anyone know what could be wrong with me?

You probably know what the synopsis was by now, but you really need to go to an OBGYN, home pregnancy tests really have a lot of room for error- expired sticks, malfunctioning test, incorrect conditions (left in a hot/cold car), etc. Good luck!

Hi rachelone,

Obviously, what you have to do is these symptoms persist is to see a doctor. Pregnancy is not the only thing which might have caused them, but it does make sense to re-check again with the blood pregnancy test that is done at the doctors’. Even more so if you had unprotected sex and there are fairly big chances you might have gotten pregnant.

Besides pregnancy, there are various other hormonal changes which might have caused breast tenderness, headache and cramping – from fairly common ones, like the changes caused by stress, strong emotional event or anxiety, to the ones caused by other health conditions or sometimes medication. Some women experience different cycle even when they get flu or cold, so it might have contributed.
