I am 44, have always had regular periods, usually with pretty bad cramping. This month the cramping was especially bad. Instead of starting my period, I had very little blackish blood that was only apparent when I used a tampon. One day only. Never even apparent from regular woping. I assumed it meant the regular cycle was on its way. Instead, the next day, there was nothing and hasn't been for over a week! I feel terrible, as if I am already on my period. Typical bloating, fatigue, jittery, short temper, cravings, cramping. I keep thinking Surely I have started! But the nothing except now there is a thick clear secretion, jelly like. What could be going on? Also, my tubes were tied 5 years ago. Could this be the onset of menopause? A miracle pregnancy? lol Anyway, any help or comments would be greatly appreciated. I am calling my ob/gyn tomorrow. I need relief! I always feel like a pressure cooker when I am pms-ing, and I have been in pms mode now for over two weeks! Ugh!

WOW! This is an old post... I have all those symptoms and have not had a period for over 4 months! At 49 can menapause be this kind? Only thing I get now is every 27-28 days is sore boobs, heavyness like I am about to start, and the small amount of mucus discharge. Oh and the normal bitchiness, and really bad insomnia... Still waiting for the hot flashes and all the other unkind things that come with menapause. This I can deal with. I have had 4 children had my tubes tied 23 years ago and was waiting for the same fate that my mother had had at a much older age (54). I know I am not pregnant because that would have already have happened by now. I had my normal girl labs done in June this year, with a few extra, Fasting blood sugar, T3/T4, and all were within normal range except my FSH. She said I was pre-menapausal. The only diffence I had noted in my periods is that they were heavier and lasted longer. She said this could last years. Well I think she may have been wrong:) Gosh, I hope this is it! Good luck to you all that are "google-ing" the same question as me.
