Can having psoriatic arthritis cause me to have heart palpatations that wake me up a few hours after sleep and have shortness of breath or trouble getting a breath ? This has been going on for years and it is scary and it is very uncomfortable. I have had an heart echo that is normal. Can it be the inflammation of the aorta or the lungs ?

I can find no literature to support psoriatic arthritis as causing or being related to heart palpitations and shortness of breath. Your symptoms could be related to a number of other possibilities.

 - Sleep Apnea

- Anxiety

- Coronary artery disease

- Heart arrhythmias

- Atrial fibrillation

- Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid)

- Panic attacks and panic disorder

- Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs)

- Tachycardia

- Bradycardia

As you can see, most of the possibilities are related to cardiac issues. I would recommend a visit to your primary care physician and discuss the possibilities with him/her. He can then refer you to the proper specialist if necessary.
