I have a prolia injection on June 20 and about 5 weeks later I noticed the numbness in my left lower lip and chin. also, my hip and groin and leg on the right side have been very bothersome.
Has anyone had this and does anyone know how long it may take to go away?

Hello.
The symptoms you're describing – numbness in the left lower lip and chin, and discomfort in the hip, groin, and leg on the right side – occurring after a Prolia (denosumab) injection, could be coincidental, but they might also be related to the medication or an unrelated medical issue.
Regarding Prolia, here's some general information:
-
Prolia (Denosumab): This medication is commonly used to treat osteoporosis and works by decreasing bone resorption. It's generally well-tolerated, but like all medications, it can have side effects.
-
Common Side Effects: These can include back pain, pain in extremities, musculoskeletal pain, high cholesterol levels, and urinary bladder infections. However, the specific side effects you've mentioned (numbness in the lip and chin, and hip/groin/leg discomfort) are less common.
-
Numbness Concerns: Numbness in the face can be due to a variety of causes, including nerve issues, dental problems, or other systemic conditions. It's not typically a known direct side effect of Prolia, but any new neurological symptom like this should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.
-
Musculoskeletal Pain: While pain in the hip, groin, and leg could be related to the Prolia injection, especially if it's musculoskeletal in nature, other causes could also be responsible, such as nerve compression, arthritis, or other orthopedic conditions.
-
Duration and Resolution: The duration of side effects can vary depending on the individual and the specific cause of the symptoms. If these symptoms are indeed related to the Prolia injection, they might resolve over time as the medication's effects diminish. However, this can vary from person to person.
-
Follow-Up: Ensure you have a follow-up appointment to monitor these symptoms and discuss any concerns with your doctor. They may recommend diagnostic tests or refer you to a specialist if needed.
