Hi. Cervical fusion, especially over multiple levels like C3-C7 and T1, is a significant procedure and recovery can vary greatly between individuals. Your current symptoms – numbness in the right arm and new pain in the lower back and hips – can be concerning.

The numbness in your right arm could be related to nerve compression or damage, either from the original spinal issues or as a result of the surgery. It's important to discuss this with your surgeon or a neurologist.

If you have a diagnosed case of carpal tunnel syndrome, this could be contributing to the numbness in your arm and fingers. Carpal tunnel typically affects the hand and wrist but can sometimes cause symptoms that extend up the arm.

After spinal fusion surgery, there can be increased stress on the vertebrae above and below the fused segments. This can lead to new spinal problems, which might explain the new lower back and hip pain.

After spinal surgery, changes in posture or gait can occur as the body adjusts. This can sometimes lead to pain in other areas, like the lower back and hips, as they compensate for changes in the spine.

Ongoing physical therapy and rehabilitation exercises can be crucial in managing pain and improving function after spinal surgery. They can also help address any secondary issues that arise due to changes in posture or gait.

Your healthcare team might also suggest pain management strategies, which can include medications, physical therapy, or in some cases, further interventions.

I had spinal fusion surgery 3 months ago & yes; I am experiencing numbness & tingling in my right & left arms & both hands as well especially later in the evening after daily activities during the day! Plus, on top of that if I need to do any driving that adds to the numbness in both arms. Not a happy camper about that but I know it will take some time for my nerves & muscles to gain any strength but sadly might just be a side effect from the surgery & have to live with it! I have degeneration in my spine so as I age it will crumble with time! But my faith keeps me hopeful in the Bible that promises that the Creator will soon fix my imperfect body & give me a perfect body as was always intended! I do really feel for you but do not give up hope! Shirley Mae~
