You need to see a pain specialist. norco and other such medications were never meant to be used long term. A time released medication is much safer and can better control the pain. You might also look into acupuncture and massage therapy. I'm not a doctor but have been in chronic pain for over 40 years. Sadly back surgery seldom does much for either pain or functionality. I will NEVER allow a surgeon t touch my back after reading some of the horror stories. Just go to Massachusetts General Hospitals Brain Talk Forums and chat with the people on the spine forum. They often have great suggestion and provide great support.. I was supposed to be in a wheel chair over 30 years ago and yet I'm still walking. Good luck.

i can tell you from exsperiance over 15 years of cervical spine injury that doctors will tell you hydrocodone is all the same, but it is not. i was taking watson brand 10/325 for years ,it has been the only one that worked to get rid of pain and not make me feel high, or have horrible side affects. for some reason they stopped making it,maybe because it worked to well. some other hydrocodone made me paranoid ,after 2 weeks i was trying to sleep and had my gun on my chest thinking people were breaking into my house. the pharmacist said they had complaints about it too. since i cant get the watson brand anymore i have tried some others, tramadol, cymbalta, but they had very bad side affects and i couldnt even sleep. for some reason the DEA has taken it upon themselves to arrest doctors giving out pain meds, even at what would be normal dosages ,another zero tolorance political c**p thing. I can tell you after having my neck surgery i did very well but still have lower back and a muscle problem they say is genetic, they wont relax .very painful and getting worse with age,i have had this problem since childhood. i had minimally invasive surgery on my neck, fixed 4 disks all the way around with 2 holes the size of pencils. neck is fine i would never recomend any open spine surgery , only minimanlly invasive surgery. back to your question, why this happening. very simple, your doctor is trying to wean you off pain meds ,but it sounds like you need a physical problem fixed. the meds he is giving you obviously do not control the pain. my doctor wont even give me percocet says its to addictive! bottom line is people react differently to pain meds ,what works for one wont work for another. IMO

No not addicted! Im so sick of people saying that. You cant help it that your in the pain your in or that some painkillers just dont work the same for others. I suffer horrific pain n have taken ten 325 vicodin for awhile. It does help my pain at all. It just makes it a lil more tolerable. I started Percocet n it doesn't buzz me out or anything it actually reaches my pain just deep enough for me to finally get sum sleep . Before I was awake n getting only two hours sleep coz I cried all night in pain. So your doc needs to not make you kp uping your dose n damaging your body. Ask him to let you try Tylenol 4 or just anything else that you dont have to take more then one at a time. There is somethingout there that will help you . God bless ...

OMG YOU ARE THE FIRST person that I have found that know this about redheads. I too am a redhead and I have an extremely high tolerance to pain meds and a low pain thresh hold. I get so frustrated because my paid docs thing I am full of sh*t. I need to find the write up in the medical journal that backs this up. I know that being a redhead is a genetic mutation which would stand to reason that it affects all of your body systems. Thank you so much for confirming what I knew but no one was willing to admit. I am on 180 noco 10/325 a month and trying to get a pain pump put in my back so that I can go off the oral meds. At one time I was up to 80 mgs a day of methadone for pain and they were a b***h to get off of.

I feel ya man. I'm in an airborne infantry unit and had a bad jump. Blew two discs and have some crazy growth in my spine from it now because like a dumbass i deployed trying to be a tough guy after it happened. Now i can barely walk and the army will not give me anything past perc 5s and tell me to take them one every 6 hours. I weigh 225 and im 6' 2. This dosage does jack in helping me. I don't want more to get me high or anything like that I just want to pick up my children or possibly lay on a couch w my wife. Sucks that drug addicts make my life a living hell by making drug laws so stringent.

How and how many of them are addicted

To the infantry guy: I had a severely bulging and herniated L5S1. Went to one of the best back doctors at the one of the best ortho practices in Raleigh. Had the discectomy and laminotomy. The disc protruded so much that it pinched the nerve at L4L5. He said it was the biggest piece of disc he had ever removed. 2 weeks later, weaning off pain meds. Back to work in 2 months. Moral: get surgery people!

You would be correct in some cases but the fact that narcotics are do heavily monitored it not only effects doctors it effects pharmacist. For example say there is a pain clinic where you can pay for scripts and most people use the same pharmacy....if they let all the people from the pill mill get their meds filled or vast amount of narcotics from one doctor then the people in need don't get there meds. Also if they get an allotted amount of federally controlled narcotics so if they dont use discretion they will run out early or not get sent any more until next delivery which again leaves real people in need without their meds.

You are addicted very likely refuse to admit it. Do not go from pharmacy to pharmacy and your pharmacist also has a doctorate and is highly trained to spot and prevent people like you from over-dosing or becoming addicted. They are required to follow certain laws. People like you cause accidents in which other can be seriously injured. You need both physical and mental help.
