I'm 19 years old and I recently got sick about 2 weeks ago. Nothing serious just a minor cold. I started my period the same time I got sick, so I was just taking buckleys. One night after taking the buckleys I broke out in hives all over my stomach, back, arms, and neck. I have never ever before been allergiv to anything or had hives before. I thought it was the buckleys I had, had a reaction too so I stopped taking it. Its been 2 weeks and I still have my period (my period had been regular for years and its always been light and only lasted 5, 6 days at the max.) Is the hives and period thing related? Ive heard of girls getting hives before and during their monthly cycle. My main 2 questions are what could be causing the hives and my period lasting so long?

Hi! I have never heard that you can get such reaction on buckley's but anything is possible. Are you taking any other medications, are you using birth control pill? Period can be prolonged for many reasons like hormonal disturbances, stress, low levels of thyroid or pituitary function, changes in birth control pills. You should see your gynecologist in order to rule out the real cause. Take care.
