I have a 8 month old daughter who I just started on solids five days ago. My partner and I had unprotected sex 4 or 5 days ago and today my ovaries were very achy and had a bit of lower back pain. I'm so scared that I"m pregnant, as I really want to wait a few years to have the next kid. Our daughter was 2.5 months premature with c-section, so I want to give my uterus lots of time to heal.
Please! does anyone have knowledge...
Is it common that ovaries will start aching when nursing decreases due to introduction of solids and lower-frequency breastfeeding? Could this to do changes levels of hormones the ovaries produce during this decreasing breastfeeding?
Thank you!

I know this is an old thread, but I have been having the same issues. My son is 13 months old and I'm still nursing him. He has started to self-ween a bit so we are down to only 4 nursing sessions a day and they are all between 6 am and 7 pm. He sleeps 12 hours at night. However, I have yet to see the return of my period. Recently, I noticed an increase in cervical mucus. It was egg-white cervical mucus that usually accompanies ovulation. A few days later, I have had slight pelvic pain. It almost feels like a cramp, but not quite. It is more noticeable with a full bladder. I just figured that my period will be returning soon, but after reading these posts, it seems like it may take awhile! If any of you previous posters would care to update us with what happened to you, that would be great!

Some times sitting for a long time may lead to cramp and back pain. Drink plenty of water and place a hot water bag on back. That relieves pain.

Same here! It wakes me up at night, I think it is directly due to breastfeeding since that is the one element we all seem to have in common. I started getting slight back pain during pregnancy, and tossed it up to the hormones effecting the ligaments in the back and pelvis to make room for the growing uteris. Then for the first 6 months of BFing, I figured things were just moving back into alignment. But here we are at 9 months, still only BFing at night, and it is getting worse! Especially if we feed side lying. I did have a c-setion. I will be talking to my Dr about this, and possibly visiting a chiropracter. I get so little sleep as it is, that I can't afford to lose sleep over a back ache.

ME too! Lower abdominal pain under my belly button all the way around to my back, I stopped bf two weeks ago, still no menstral even though it feels like I could start any moment. And its been going on for over a week I was worried but now I feel relief. Hormones I guess.

I just stopped BF 5 days ago and I am feeling exactly like you. Cramping under belly button and around the hips to the back. Still have not started my cycle and even took a pregnancy test to make sure I wasn't pregnant (I'm not). This is my 4th child and I don't remember having this with any of the others. Guess it is the hormones like you said. I'm just glad I'm not the only one. I was about to call the Dr. to make sure nothing weird was going on.
