For all the women out there stressed out about post-mini pill - I was taking the mini-pill for 2 years for medical reasons and stopped taking it when I was 18 years old. It took four years for my period to come back and I was very stressed about never being fertile that whole time. The mini-pill also caused cysts that were as painful as appendicitis while I was on it. I will never take another pill again - there are just too many long-term risks from messing with hormones like that.

Same boat. MY Fiance noticed my NuvaRing was msising right around the time I would have been ovulating, if I was not on BC. Didn't sex after that as I wanted to wait for my period to come, and then I would insert another ring. But my period has never come. Three plus weeks late. Preg Tests all negative. I'm not sure what to think. I do not plan to go back on BC ever again! I was not aware that being on BC could alter my bodies natural rythoms so much.

I was only on the pill for a little over 2 years, I went off of the pill August 2010 and haven't had a period since then. (about 4 missed periods) I've taken 3 pregnancy tests and all came back negative, very frustrating! We want to start a family but hate not knowing what's going on with my body.

Now I'm having this problem, it sucks...I lost my birth control pack about half way through last month when I was moving, but had my period that month as normal. I didn't renew my prescription in time this month, and figured I would just go back on after my next my period. But it's a few days late now, still hasn't happened. I'm not worried, I haven't had sex and took a pregnancy test just in case, it was negative. Looks like I'll just have to buckle down and wait.

My doctor put me on the pill because of horrible period pain, but I had to stop taking it after 5 months, the side effects were a real problem for my body so the doctor told me to stop taking the pill anymore. I am 30 years old and have never taken contraceptives before; this was the first and last time; it has been now 7 months since i am no longer on the pill and my period still hasn’t come back, I have just a very light spotting which I cannot call period, please girls if any of you has experienced this, I just want my normal period to come back, it wasn’t light or heavy before being on the pill, it was normal flow, and I just want it back; since I have no period anymore, I feel headaches and very fainted with no strength in my body; I just want to know why my period stopped completely since I started the pill and why it hasn’t come back even now after 7 months from stopping taking the pill; I need an urgent response, what are these contraceptive pills doing to my body? Had I known, I would have never taken the pill from the beginning. In 4 days time I have an appointment with a gynecologist, I want an explanation from them.
Before taking the pills, I was just fine

I just started taking birth control (seasonique) last month and had only been on it for approx two weeks. During which I kept missing doses and had to double up to keep with the schedule. The birth control was making me sick and because I missed some doses I thought that I would stop and start over after my next period. This period has not come and I am currently a week late. I've taken two pregnancy tests last week (one in the morning using my first pee) and both came back negative. I am posting to see if it is normal for my period to be delayed since I have only been on the pill for a week and a half and had quit three weeks ago?

Its July 3rd now, I stopped taking my birth control pills back in may, I started my period may 29th and I was suppose to get it june 26th from when I counted my 28 days, but I am now a week late? I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative and I am really scared, I guess from what I am reading it is normal to not get it for a while after you stop taking your pills, HELP!

I received my birth control, Depo provera on feb 4th. I decided not to go back for the second shot in april because I was gaining weight. My period has been irregular since the the first shot. Sometimes I would bleed heavily while others times there would be some spotting. I recently had unprotected sex with my boyfriend and the periods of spotting have stopped completely. Its been about week and a half and I'm not sure if I should take a pregnancy test because I've read that its takes a while to become pregnant after discontinuing the shot. SHOULD I TAKE A PREGNANCY TEST??????

I'm right there with you Danielle! I stopped taking the pill back in June, so June is when I last had my period and I have yet to get it again. I unfortunately didn't right down the day I got it. However, I know it's now been a good month! These posts do make me feel a bit better. My husband and I were going to start TTC, but not RIGHT AWAY!

Hopefully you wouldn't mind answering a few questions for me:
My husband and I decided to conceive in august of this year (2011) after I completed my BC for that month. While on BC I had really light periods that lasted 2-3 days tops, now two months later they are pretty much still the same, I have been taking ovulation tests but they've all been negative, however my cervical mucus seems to be changing as I've read it's supposed to. and I've been having ovulation cramping (though I also experienced this while on BC)
Should I be having moderate/heavy blood flow with regular periods? unfortunately I don't remember what my periods.were like before I started the pill. Is my body still adjusting to life sans BC? I'm concerned about how long it will take for things to get back to normal. is there anything I can do to help my body produce hormones on its own and help ovulation begin if it hasn't already.

This is not accurate. you can be pregnant and a home pregnancy test may not yet detect it. I was 2 months before the hpt showed possitive. the doctors is more sensetive at detecting the hormone level changes.

hey! I took the same stuff! the same thing happened to me..the first month after I stopped taking it I had my period just like I usually would but this is the second month and I'm already 8 days late but I definitely don't think I'm pregnant so it's probably just the birth control that is messing with your period
