You'd think if this was a common thing that they'd put it on the package! I normally take fluconazole orally, but have new insurance and wanted to try monistat (one day). I'm on the third day, and I go to the bathroom to find pink, cottage cheese discharge and was burning/itchy. I've had a LOT of yeast infections, but I've never had anything more than regular, milky discharge, and in normally doesn't itch or bother me... kinda freaked me out! Thank you for the piece of mind!

Ok so no one on here has followed up really. I called monistat about this problem (I had a yeast infection with all the symptoms itching burning EVERYWHERE and cottage cheese-like discharge I used monistat 3 and then had then started bleeding/getting this pink discharge the 2nd day but kept using it) They said this was not normal at all and told me to go to the emergency room. Instead I got an appointment in with my doctor (this was two days after using Monistat). The doctor examined me and did a pap. She didn't find any traces of the yeast infection. The blood took the rest of it out of my system and the discharge was just the start of my period that wars induced by the Monistat. So no worries ladies. You're probably just going to get your period jump started.

I'm in the same boat. I have taken 2 doses of the 3 day treatment and I just found an orangey discharge on my liner (lovely). Definitely started freaking out and then found this post. So good to hear that this is common. I am really surprised that this side effect isn't noted on the box!!!

I just started having the same issue, started using monistat a couple days ago and lone behold, pink/white discharge. I wasn't overly worried about it, honestly I thought my period was coming early for some reason. Thankfully I started doing some research just in case and found this thread. I hope it goes away relatively quick though, this whole thing is grossing me out, first yeast infection ever and I hope I don't get it again! :(

I am a nurse and often get myself worked up over the smallest things, as I see and learn a lot everyday.  I just used the Monastat 1 day treatment ovule this morning and I, too have experienced the light pink discharge.  I freaked out initially.  I later found out it is not uncommon.  I believe the light pink discharge we women experience with this yeat infection treatments are likely due to irriation that has already started in the vaginal area, and the medication doing its job to kill all the active yeast infection, which in turn, causes more irriation for a couple days.  I do feel better knowing I am not alone. :-)

How long after using monistat can the pink discharge appear? I was on some extremely strong antibiotics for H-pylori and finished them 2 weeks ago. I used monistat a few days later and just noticed the pink discharge today.

Thank goodness for this forum. I am taking the generic Monistat 7 day treatment. Last night was the second treatment. Yesterday, I noticed a light pink discharge once, and figured it was part of the cream in the morning. But this morning, I noticed the cream was white, so that worried me a little. But then, I just went to the bathroom and theres blood in the white discharge. Rather nerve racking when you know that you are not on your period and there is blood. Thanks everyone! I appreciate knowing thta this can be a very normal reaction.

The pink discharge thing happened to me Friday and I took Monostat 1 on Monday.  So, like everyone else said, thank goodness that this doesn't seem to be abnormal.  However, I don't think my vagina is happy with this kind of 'normal.'  Maybe it's a necessary evil to kill the yeast in a single day.  No one with medical credentials seems to be posting to this thread, so I guess we don't exactly know.

So glad I found this thread! I had a typical yeast infection and I used the monistat 3 treatment. On the 3rd night when I pulled the applicator out I noticed there was a tiny bit of blood on it. I wasn't supposed to get my period for another 5 days. The next day while going to the bathroom more blood and pain while urinating. I rushed into my Dr. 100% convinced my bf gave me something. She did all test for STD's, Yeast and BV. Sh said that she sees so many women who come in because they have had reactions like mine to the 1 and 3 day doses. All of my tests were negative. Dr says these 1 and 3 day doses are just too strong for many women and thinks the medicine really did a number on my insides. She really calmed me down and the bleeding stopped after a couple days. What a scary event. She prescribed me Diflucan (which I have always taken in the past) to have on hand if I ever get another YI again. She really wants me to stay away from this medication!

Oh lawdy!  Yes, I'm so relieved now.  Used the 1 day and I'm not on my period, but there is definitely a pink discharge happening.  No pain or anything, but the label on that stuff, I guess since it's a 1 day and not 7 (who wants to do that for 7 days? yeesh!) said there might be some irritation/initial discomfort, but not anything about discharge.....
