Wow. So glad I found this . Even though it is an old thread it saved my sanity. I used the generic monistat 3 day and now I have pink spotting. I am actually starting to breathe again thanks to this board. Wow! So happy for this. Thank you all for posting!

not sure girls. i think maybe we misdiagnosed ourselves and the problem in the beginning wasn't a yeast infection but a bacterial one. going to the doc in morning and will find out.... let u know

Today is Tuesday...I started using the generic Monistat 7 day this past Saturday night and I've had pink/red spotting/bleeding Sunday, yesterday and today. I'm seeing a Gyno in an hour. I will definitely post my results and if any tests were necessary and when I get results I will also let you ladies know. I used the actual Monistat 7 back in December but didn't encounter anything like this. I'm wondering if it's the generic brand that caused this? Anyhow...I'll be back with info!

Whew. I had the same thing happen to me today, used the 1 day monistat and had orange/pink discharge, scared the c**p out of me, glad to see other people are having the same thing and it's normal...

After taking Monistat 1, that night I ran a high fever and everything felt like it was on fire. I walked around for 2 hours in my home, I literally couldn't sit or lay down, figuring I could sweat it out. I finally collapsed into a chair after I felt the burning pain subside. The next day I saw the pink discharge, called my OBG who said to take benadryl for allergies, since I was having an allergic reaction. The pain subsided even more and now the discharge is more blood-like and I've been menapausal for about 2 years, so that was frightening. I can feel a dull swelling but I'm hoping my body will just clear itself out soon. Glad to hear that this process, as horrifying as it was, is the norm, but overall it sucks and there should be a warning label about the blood discharge.

You gals are the best -- so many times I search things on the internet and get a million awful, stress-inducing results. But to have you each say you had the same thing is so reassuring.
I had a recurring yeast infection, took Diflucan and did Monistat 7. Day 3 of Monistat I had lots of burning, plus pink discharge. I didn't do the 4th night, still had some pink discharge on the toilet paper, and called my doctor to see what she says. But your input is tiding me over until I hear back from her....

I think that it is always helpful to post this, so I will add my experience. A week ago I started with vulva and vaginal itching and irritation. I will say that I had not shaved down there for longer than usual and was au-naturale and so I thought that the hairs were just bothering me. I decided to shave to try to help with itching from hairs, which only exacerbated the issue. After the hair was gone I could tell that the itching seemed to be more related to yeast infection type symptoms: vulvovaginal itching, a bit of swelling to my labia and a "beefy" rash to the inside of my labia and in the sensitive tissues of my vagina. I started with a yeast cream to the external area only which was working okay, but then I got a shaving dermititis. The skin was all irritated in my pubic area and super itchy there as well, started burning and was even painful. I suspect and self diagnosed that I had spread the yeast to this area of skin that was irritated from shaving, and that possibly I was at risk for a secondary skin infection (ie. from staph) due to the open skin. I started to do warm soaks in plain bath water 2 times daily to help with irritation, which helped. But I was finding that the itching and burning was unbearable in between this. I decided to get Monistat 1 and inserted the ovule and started using the cream. I also used an antibacterial ointment 2 times daily to the external areas of dermititis. The dermititis got better in a few days. Symptoms of itchy and burning in vaginal area have gotten a little better each day after the Monistat ovule, but I stopped using the cream externally-- I am convinced it was only making things worse and more painful/irritated. I do have a pinkish/orange discharge that I attribute directly to the ovule itself. I am on day 3-4 after using the Monistat, and still have a bit of itching and discomfort but it seems to be better than before. I really hope that this is completely better in the next 2 days, or I am definately going to schedule an appointment with my GYN.
I will say that Monistat should put the side effect of pink/orange discharge on the package. I noticed a post that said a person called the company and they stated it was not "normal" and she should go to the ER. They have to say that in case there is something emergent, because of liability. I think it makes sense that the discharge would be orange-ish (the ovule had an orange tinge to it when it was broken up). The pink may be sloughing of vaginal skin due to healing of the yeast infection, and this also medically makes sense. It seems foolish that they wouldn't just put this on the package. I will never use a cream again-- I haven't take the diflucan, but would definately try that instead to avoid the initial exacerbation of symptoms after cream is started.
What a miserable experience. Not to mention, I want to have sex with my partner! I am a bit nervous that if I get better things will be brought on again by sex, but that's just me. I never want this experience again.
