Okay first off, I am actually near phobic about pregnancy and it just took my doctor two weeks to talk me out of pregnancy paranoia so please try to come up with alternative theories to "implantation bleeding". You will *freak* me out and actually my question is what else (other than pregnancy) can cause pink discharge?

I've actually had it before and was not pregnant. It kinda just... stopped... I don't remember when or how or why. It's quite thick, it's very pink and it's right there whenever I wipe after a number one. It's weird looking.

I already know I have the herpes virus in my blood but after the first occurrence it has never come back. I do not seem to have any form of infection as I have zero itch, absolutely no burning and no pain or discomfort. Which is why I keep going "???" when the pink goo reappears.

I have actually attempted to ask this question before on other sites but all I get is "pregnancy", "STD" or "infection". I have absolutely no reason to believe any of those things are the cause. Technically I could be pregnant, but I am strict with my pill and test every two weeks and don't think I am. Technically I do have an STD, but I seriously doubt that a "dormant" herpes virus (that hasn't shown any sign of life for years) would have any logical reason to cause pink discharge (unless it's trying to build a house in my uterus and paint the walls pink). Technically it could be caused by an infection but I do not have any itch, irritation, pain, discomfort.

Does anyone have any alternative causes for the pinkness or will I just have to make peace with not knowing? Because I'm getting a little tired of the "OMG WHAT IF I'M PREGNANT" trigger the stuff has on me. An alternative explanation would be nice. I think spazzing out about perfect pill intake and testing every two weeks is paranoid enough, I don't really need to do any further thinking on that matter.

Thank you for taking the time to (sort of?) read this,
Daisy

PS I just realized it might have something to do with, errr, internal trauma? You know, when it's been a while... the vagina gets a little angry during at first but I'm fine after. Could that cause the pinkness and/or discharge?

You need to visit your gynecologist and have a vaginal exam if the bleeding has been going on for a while. Even if you have been taking your birth control regularly, some medications can cause it to be ineffective, mainly antibiotics... in reference to irregularity, not necessarily to pregnancy, but pregnancy tests can not substitute an actual diagnosis by a doctor. The best thing to do is relax and make an appointment with your gyno to rule out infection, disease, or pregnancy, even if the bleeding stops. If it is very pink or bright colored that means you are actively bleeding. Aspirin and NSAIDs can increase bleeding. It may just be spotting from hormonal changes. Bleeding of the inside of the vagina isn't usually normal after sex, but personally I can tell you that I have never been pregnant, had an STD, or an abnormal pap, and every now and then have had the pink discharge you are describing after sex. It's like having sex kicks the lining of my uterus back into shedding mode like a period, but is more discharge-like than menstruation. I wish I could say that it's probably due to something that won't freak you out, but only a doctor can honestly detect the cause of it.
