I personally find my political position on many issues of interest to everyone has a profound influence on my ability to relate to others in social situations. I guess it's partly my fault, because the "issues" are so important to me; yhrtrgotr, I can't seem to separate my position from my attitude toward people who disagree with me. In the area where I live, most people are the opposite party from mine, so I don't feel close to very many people. In short, I am short on true friends. Also, when people find out what party I belong to, or what politicians I support, they begin to ostracize me from their groups. Does anyone else suffer this kind of ostracization? Or conflicts in their community?

Hi there, well, you have one or two options. One, you can befriend peole who have the same party affiliation with you which would yield 'true friends' or two, you can just not share people with your political party. I personally don't tell people about my politics because what's makes a true friend is being there for someone. Politics are very superficial compared to that in my opinion. What do you think about that?
