So one of the officers that I internally interviewed with a long while ago, quit early last week. Back during the interview process he didn't hire me becasue he thought I needed too much money (long story). Well he called this morning. Wants to offer me a position working for him with his new company. I'm not sure what I think about this yet. I probably won't know what to think until we sit down and talk about it. I mean what if he thinks I can be purchased at a low amount now? Do I tell him how much I really want? The kicker is that I really enjoy my current boss. He's so great to me. But there's not a lot of growth potential where I am. Do I sacrifice a great boss for an unkown boss that wants to pay me a lot more? There were rumors that this officer was pretty much forced to quit.....rumors are just that though. I'm not close with any of his old assitants so I can't exactly call them up and get the scoop. The entire issue needs to remain confidential due to politics. I don't know what to do. :| Another curve ball is that one of my other bosses might be coming back to my office. That's a good thing because I loved working with her and we are semi friends now. But that still doesn't give me any growth potential here. Ugh. Career decisions are hard.

Hmmm...this is a tricky one. What's the realistic growth potential at his new company, is it really better than what you have here, or is it at least a springboard that will get you more money in the short run and more experience to take with you somewhere else in the long run? If you do talk to him, I definitely think you should tell him how much you really want--if that hasn't changed you don't want to get shorted if you do decide to make the jump. No one else, I have learned over time, is going to look out for your interests but you.
Is there anyone there who knows someone who'd be a reliable source as to why this guy left? Rumors can be rumors, but you still want to be very sure you're not doing the frying pan into the fire thing if you're basically already happy where you are. Just my :twocents:

No it's not. He said he would fight to keep me. My boss loves me. He also happens to be friends with the other person. Good friends. He was a little shocked that this friend would be coming after me knowing the turnover our office has seen recently.
