Hi, I have been experiencing symptoms of thyroiditis like being called, getting weight, having constipation, muscle weakness, dry skin. But, blood tests showed increased level of antibodies, and now doctor is putting it into relationship with autoimmune disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. What else could it be?

Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is a type of autoimmune thyroid disease. The body produces antibodies which attack and destroy the thyroid gland. The thyroid hormon has number of important roles in organism, it regulates the rate of metabolism, which is the rate at which the body uses energy. If there is not enough thyroid hormone symptoms like fatigue, depression, sensitivity to cold, weight gain, forgetfulness, muscle weakness, puffy face, dry skin and hair, constipation, muscle cramps, and increased menstrual flow occur. In some cases there is also seen major swelling of the thyroid gland in the front of the neck, called goiter.
