Last Wednesday (Jan 27th) I had anterior cervical discectomy without fusion. Prior to the surgery I had numbness in my right fingers, hand and arm with occasional pain as well. My MRI's indicated bone spurs at C5/C6 and C6/C7.

I spoke with three different neurosurgeons and they all recommended the surgery (only one reccommended not doing fusion).

After the surgery I still have the numbness in my fingers and last night I had moderate to severe pain in my right arm.

My NS said to expect some "changes" to occur during the next few weeks but eventually all will be well.

I am taking Hydrocodone every four hours (or as needed).

Quite honestly, I am doing fine otherwise....I went to work Friday and put in a full day (desk job). I am only wearing the Philadelphia collar when I want to (definitely not sleeping in it) and the throat pain is nominal (although the cut looks awful...I hope it doesn't make an ugly scar).

I guess my primary concerns are: Will the numbness and pain in my right fingers/hand/arm eventually go away? That's why I had the surgery to begin with. Also, since I didn't do the fusion, what risks am I under? My NS was a big advocate of not doing the fusion.

Thank you all for your anticipated responses...also, please feel free to ask me your questions as well.
