My husband had a vasectomy 3 weeks ago. He has been in pain every day since .
Firstly they went nearly black and swollen and then the stitches went a bit pus filled on one side and again his balls were huge and he was in mega pain . He was given iodine which was rubbish so i made him go back to a different dr the next day who was quite shocked and gave him fluxocillin(unsure spelling). A swab was also taken at this time.He still was in pain but his balls reduced size a bit.
The fluxocillin course ended and the infection came back. swab results didnt come back and no one bothered to chase them up despite me keep ringing(told they may take 3 weeks!). So balls got massive again and another lump has appeared at the bottom back of the ball sack . They have put him on Erythromycin which is giving him stomach pains and i havent seen much improvement (3rd week now) , balls still the size of a large jacket potato and quite red. What happens now? I am getting really worried now as i din not expect any of this.

6 days after having my vasectomy my stitches started to come out. The problem is the incision did not heal. I did not do any of the things the doctor told my not to do. Did not lift, run, etc.
I call my doctors office. I was told by the doctors office nurse this "happens sometimes". "Put a band aid and some neosporan on it and keep it clean". This did not make me feel any better. I have a 1/2 inch cut in my ball sack going east to west at the base of my penis and its wide open.
The next day I called the doctor again. This time the doctor talked to me. He said not to use neosporan because it was oil based ( bad advise from his nurse ) and just keep it clean. I was told some doctors don't even use stitches. The incision would close on it's own in a month. Today is 14 days from the procedure. I have a round donut looking wound. 3/8 in Diameter and 1/4 inch deep. Doesn't seem infected but it's always damp and oozy.
Knowing what I know now. I would not have let him make an east west cut. I think the weight of my balls kept the incision from healing.

I AM A 35 YEAR OLD,JUST HAD A VASECTOMY 1 WEEK 3 DAYS AGO. I WAS IN A DULL PAIN FIRST WEEK. DOCTOR ONLY GAVE ME 1 ANTI-BIOTIC DURING SURGERY AND 1 TO TAKE HOME. NOT ENOUGH BECAUSE AFTER 4 DAYS I NOTICED A LITTLE PUS AROUND THE STICHES. I HAVE TAKEN 2 MORE ANTIBIOTICS THAT I HAD LEFT OVER FROM A FLU WHICH HAS HELPED A LITTLE. I EJACULATED ABOUT 5 DAYS AFTER SURGERY AND IT FELT A LIL FUNNY BUT WAS OK. I DID IT AGAIN THE NEXT DAY AND A LITTLE LUMP OF SPERM CAME OUT WITH THE LIQUID. NOW ON 5 AND 6 DAY I STILL FELT TENDER AROUND THE BALLS AND CALLED THE NURSE. THEY SAID CONTINUE TAKING THE VICODIN AND USE ICE AND SOME PEOPLE MAY NEED 2 WEEKS, NOT 1 TO BE OK. THE ICE ACTUALLY KINDA HURTS THE AREA BUT I STILL DID IT EVERY NIGHT. THE VICODIN HURTS MY STOMACH REALLY BAD CUZ I HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF ACID-REFLUX AND IT MAKES ME HAVE TO TAKE A 10 MIN NAP DURING LUNCH AT WORK. I HAVE STARTED TO TAKE 800MG IBUPROFEN ALSO SOMETIME A CHEAP IBUPROFEN I HAD TO KEEP INFLAMMATION AND PAIN DOWN. ITS NOW 9 DAYS AND A LITTLE PUS SHOWS AROUND STITCHES SO I BATHE AND CLEAN WITH HYDROGEN PEROXIDE AND APPLY ANTIBIOTIC CREAM. I AM A LITTLE WORRIED BCUZ I NOTICED 1 BALL HANGS REALLY LONG AND I NOTICED A LITTLE FLUID FILLED SACK ON THE TESTICLE. ALL OTHER POST SAYS WILL GO AWAY AFTER FEW WEEKS. I READ LOTS OF MEDICAL RESEARCH AND ALL LIED CLAIMING THE PATIENT EXPERIENCED NO DISCOMFORT AFTER 1 WEEK, BULL. THERE IS MINOR MINOR NUISANCE AND DULL PAIN TO DEAL WITH.

i had the pus pain and doughnut hole. i think it is because my testicle is too heavy and i tried wearing boxer briefs instead of tighty whiteys. now my sac is leaking fluid I have an appt on Monday to make sure it isn't too serious

I'm having the same symptoms over a week later and I've worn the tight bikini briefs every day. I'm talking a size smaller kind of tight. I did the ice the first 2 days as instructed. I haven't lifted anything terribly heavy. Went to doc yesterday because of the swelling and pus and he said it was normal. Today, the incisions are wide open and there is constant bleeding and drainage. I'm really concerned!!

i had a Vasectomy 2004 year later problems after problems now takeing shoots , pain , everything but i looked the doctor in the eye he told me there is never no problems at all he lied , if insurance pay to have it done and so few have problems why dont they help pay to help the so call few get it undone get back to a normal life, if you just had it done dont think its going to get better its just started i am 43 i know of 5 people dieing of cancer all vc in their late 20s sucks if you are the few.

ICE, ICE, ICE. Ice it guys for the first 48 hours...20mins on 20mins off. It will make a HUGE difference. Tylenol should suffice for pain control with proper icing and taking it easy (yes...that means follow instructions). I'm a physician who just had it done. Pus is never normal. If you're not happy with the response a doctor or nurse gives you...ask someone else. It's your health. There are lots of people who are NOT knowledgeable out there! Good luck. Did I mention ice?

I had the snip on the 3rd December. It did nit go according to plan at all. I was told the presedure would take a maximum of 15 minutes no stiches required a laser was used in there prosess..
The Dr did and examination this took 20 minutes alone, he said he was struggling to locate a tube on the right side after a couplemore pulls on my right ball he said he would start... he gave me anistetic (yor awake for this by the way ) and began the procesure all was fine.... so i thought small talk is made from the nurse even etc.. after 45 minutes lots of cutting tugging and burning the Dr said well thats the left side done... i was shocked at this point not only could i feel the last 5 minutes it was only one side.... gave me more anistetic and began on the right immediately i could feel pain lots of pain he gave me more anistetic and tried again after 70 mins i told him to stop i was i pain he could bot give me a teason for not being able to complete it so i said enough.. he told me he had finished and go get changed... apologised over and over then told me to wait to hear from the company on a soloution.. he said i do not believe you can have the surgry this way... well my blood pressure was high I eventually got them to letmw leave and i went home in shock really... i had half a job and lots of pain.. i stuck to there advise and on monday as they told me booked a go appointment to have my blood pressure checked.... once in the GPS office i was checked and explained what happend the GP checked me over and i soar the shock on his face... hensaidni had anninfected open 1cm hole in my sack... which could not be stiched now but should have been.. i was left with an open wound.... after my gp advised me i got straight onto the company to see what had happend... As no call that i was promised happend once i got to a member of the team. They did there best to find my info but could not ... 2 hours later i recieved a call from a senior surgeon who told me it was a very rare issue i hadgone through but should have not been done... he said he had not had a report from the surgeon to look through and could i give an account of the operation.... i was fuming as you could imagine... i had half a job black infected balls and it was all for nothing..... so now i had to take time of work to let it all heal then i was told you need to come back to see a senior surgeon (made me wonder who the surgeon was that operated on me) to assess the area and explain what went wrong and what need to happen... i had to wait till the new year to see him which was anotherdaynoff work and miles away.... but i wanted it sorted... and a reason which was still not given to me....
So i saw the SS and he did a completely different examination and said 100% incan do it.. i decided to let him complete the op as waiting on NHS for a gemeral to complete it would take a year i was told... so i went back for round 2.... at this point when im there he said the issue with the anastetic was it wore off quick on my body due to my large frame.. he would give me a stronger dose and have it done in 15 mins... so again i get on the table he starts after 3 injections more severe pain he said ive done it the right is done.... i was so relevied but then he said i need to check the left side.... i said he did it last time and i trust hes done it... he said no i want to be sure so another 2 injections and he went in but the pin was there straight away i was jot happy at all after another 5/10 mins he started useing the laser and cutting aahkn on the left i said Did he do it ????? His reply was not a straight yes but i wanted to be sure it was completed but i have cut through deep tissue to which will cause more discomfort... he continued to tell me i needed to take st least 5 days doing no work driving lifting as little as poss... well i angry thats another 5 days ive had to take off...... so when i got home i did nothing after 3rd day i bathed were i saw the wound was open and liqued was coming out of it.... its now been a furtuer 7 days my woukd is still yellow amd open but clean... the whole thing has been harendous and the explanation i was given was my tubes were behind layers of fatty tissue which had pushed my tubes righti into my body... and my body burms up anistetic and i should make future dr aware this happens... i have no waynof knowing if this is right.... i just hope its all done and theres no complications later.........

Almost same thing happened to me. Alot of pain through entire thing. Started on left side after 30 minutes said he was having issues and will do the right side then come back to the left. Was just an awful experience and i would not do it again

I am at 3 weeks, open a bit, can see some white stuff, still tender can feel where it was cauterized still swollen, pretty uncomfortable still. Seems most the people saying the same stuff got the scalpel technique as did I, I took 4 days off work procedure was done morning of the first day, had trouble at work, still having a bit of trouble at work, my dad got the no scalpel technique done, was feeling better in a few days felt fine after a week. Only have his experience with that one bit seems that's the better way although doctors say there's no advantages to the no scalpel technique. Pretty sure 2 tiny holes heal better than a 1cm-2cm incision though

Thx for the post. I'm having the same problem as you. Today is day 6 and stitches are falling out, leaving an opened wound.. I put Neosporin on today before finding out from your post that I shouldn't have. So my question to you is ... Did you end up using anything besides Neosporin or did you just keep it clean...?
