I need information about preeclampsia in pregnancy. How often does it happen in primigravida women? I heard that it can be very dangerous for mother. Is there a way that preeclampsia can be prevented?

Preeclampsia may occur in pregnancy and in postpartum period. It affects 5-8% of all pregnancies. Preeclampsia is characterized by high blood pressure and proteinuria. Swelling, sudden weight gain and changes in vision are important warning symptoms. Unfortunately this is leading global cause of infant and maternal deaths.
