My sister is pregnant with her third baby. Her first two pregnancies were normal, but this one is getting stranger by the day. She has become obsessed with her test results. She second guesses every doctor; she doesn't trust any test result's normalcy; she has seen specialists. To me and to her doctors, she seems perfectly healthy. She is complaining of insomnia, fatigue, dizziness, etc. Her thyroid was a bit off but is now back to normal. Now she's complaining of a racing heart, extreme anxiety. She suggested today that perhaps she has botulism poisoning or a brain tumor because her head feels so heavy. She also said that it feels like the baby is sucking all of the life out of her and that she's afraid that she's dying. She's even beginning to train her other two young children to dial 911 in case she dies when her husband is at work. Her behavior is so strange and the things she says are so bizarre that it's really worrying her other family members. What do you think she might have? I'd really like to speak with her ob-gyn, but I don't know what the laws dictate as far as doctor-patient confidentiality. I don't want to know any of her information, I just want to double check that the doctor is aware how extreme her behavior has become. I don't know how candid she is when she visits him.
