I’d like to know what the most important pregnency precautions are. I’m (still) not pregnant, but am ready to be. I want to start changing my habits if they could be harmful for a baby. I don’t smoke, but I like to drink a lot of coffee. Should I start to avoid that?

You should avoid exposure to smoke of cigarettes, even though you’re not smoker. Alcohol can be harmful for fetus, because it crosses placenta. Limit your coffees, cut down the caffeine, even otcs that include caffeine. Some chemicals like insecticides and household cleaners also should be avoided especially during the first 2 weeks after conception. Avoid hot baths and saunas.

Hi there, XD
Like stated above, alcohol and/or drugs are the most important to avoid during pregnancy or even when trying to conceive. If you are planning to get pregnant in the comming monthly it is a good idea to start taking folic acid and prenatal vitamins, it aids in keeping your body healthy even if you aren't pregnant, and it also gets you used to the idea of taking them everyday. Caffeine and smoking are known to take part in prolonging conception. %-) However, caffeine doesn't have to be completely avoided, but it is a good idea to try not too drink so much of it while trying to conceive or if/when you get pregnant, try to limit to one or two cups daily, and maybe drink more water and fruit juices that can promote more nutrition for the rapid growth of the baby as everything you eat and drink gets passed to the fetus. Beware that even hebal teas are not good to drink as they actually have higher mg of caffeine than a cup of filtered coffee or a cup of tea. They should be avoided if at all possible. Chemicals; smells can even be passed through to the fetus, try to avoid them if at all possible, avoid certain medications, they usually tell you on the box or instructions to take or not to take. Antihistamins, and some prescriptions should be avoided, even the most common Neo-Cirtrin believe it or not has so many medications in it that it can be harmful to the fetus or embryo when you are pregnant! If you currently take any prescriptions you should talk to your doctor. Hot tubs and Saunas should be avoided, since overheating is a factor. :-(
Hope this helps a bit. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to discuss, I have had two successful pregnancies myself and if there is any others ways I can help, I'd be honored to do my best.
Best of Luck. ;-)
