My brother is in the hospital now; he had a psychotic episode with hallucinations. I am very worried for him, because this never happened before. He complained about the feeling that someone is following him, but we did not pay much attention. Now he is taking Prochlorperazine and I would like to know how will that drug help him?

This drug has several properties; treating schizophrenia being one of those. It will help him by sedating him and decreasing the risk of new hallucinations. As for side effects, there are blurred vision, drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation etc. But I think that except for severe allergy reaction none of these mentioned side effects could compare to the hallucinations he has been experiencing.
