Hi. I used to be a heavy smoker, but I quit when some bad signs have started to appear. Shortness of breath, dry cough, fatigue, loss of appetite... Went to see my doc and was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. He said that there is no effective treatment. Is that really so?

Pulmonary fibrosis involves scarring of the lung. When the scar forms, the tissue becomes thicker causing an irreversible loss of the tissue’s ability to transfer oxygen into the bloodstream. Your symptoms are clear (my father had PF, caused by lupus). Unfortunately, there is no effective treatment or a cure for PF. All currently available treatment options intended to suppress inflammation and have only a limited success in reducing the fibrotic progress. A single lung transplant may be an option for some people.
