There are 5 types of hepatitis - A, B, C, D, and E, and 5 different hepatitis viruses. Hepatitis A is caused by eating infected food, drinking infected water, anal-oral contact during sex. It doesn't lead to chronic disease and cirrhosis. A full recovery is mostly achieved. Hepatitis B is a sexually transmitted disease (always use condom), by sharing drug needles, by getting a tattoo. Chronic cirrhosis leads to huge liver damage. Hepatitis C is spread the same way as hepatitis B, through contact with an infected person's blood, semen, or body fluid (see above). It has the same final result, liver cirrhosis. Hepatitis D you can only get if you are already infected with hepatitis B. It is spread through contact with infected blood; sharing needles ...It causes swelling of the liver. Hepatitis E is caused by drinking water infected with the virus. It causes swelling of the liver, but doesn’t produce any long-term dysfunction.
