Two weeks ago my blood pressure was 140/180. I was scared, even more because I had no harmful symptoms that something was wrong. My physician prescribed me ramopril. I am 47 years old, female. As I have heard that ramopril is excellent medication, can it cure high blood pressure, so that the therapy can be discontinued?

Ramipril is not cure for high blood pressure. It can keep it under control and prevent the damages that are caused by hbp. None of the drugs that are used in treatment of hbp can cure it, because hbp is not curable disease. Ramipril is ace inhibitor; it relaxes blood vessels and lowers blood pressure that way. This drug can keep your bp under control, but you should not stop using it, except on advice of the doctor that prescribed you ramipril.
