I too have a RV Fistula due to surgery. My current CR Surgeon tried an endoscopic clip that failed, and now wants to do an ileoostomy, then repair with synthetic. I am searching my options. I sent my records to a CR surgeon at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, and talking with a surgeon in Baltimore. The difficult part is finding the right surgeon Colorectal or Urogynecological...then hoping they do the correct procedure for your condition. Anyone have a surgeon that has repaired their RV Fistula the first time?

Tenna, did you ever have any surgery for your RV. I have a Rectovaginal Fistula casused by Diverticulitis. I am seeing a Urogynecoligical Dr on 5/1/13/ and scared to death what is going to happen. Do you have any answers yet?

hopefully I'm not the only one around. I have been reading this part 5 section and have made it to page 10. It has been really helpful and encouraging. So thank you in advance for sharing your experiences.
i gave birth to my son august 2013 no episiotomy and only 2nd degree tearing But they did use a vacuum. I started noticing symptoms of an RVF 3 months later. It was really awful. I was away visiting friends and family showing of my new baby boy and multiple times I am sure my entire bowels just leaked right out. I went to my OB as soon as I returned and he didn't believe me. I had my GP refer me to another OB who has located the fistula and has been keeping an eye on it for the last 4 months.
i have been taking metamucil twice a day. and it has helped a lot but not enough. The fistula is 2 cms in and he said it is a pinhole! I have only had feces come through once in the last month and only once the month before. But he is saying surgery is next.
he is so hard to understand and he is so busy! He said he would make am incision for a probe go in and close off a track??? He said I would likely only have to stay one night. So any advice on what you think he is doing?
Has anyone had a successful repair done and had another vaginal birth with no complications ?
Or had a repair done after giving birth? Can they just repair it then?
Im really anxious about this. It's so small surgery seems so unnecessary!
