Yesterday my 41 years old sister tested positive for ANA. She’s had reoccurring problems for years which now have finally been diagnosed. She smokes and do things that are hazardous to her health which could definitely be a trigger. On the other hand I am a military veteran that was medically discharged 2 years ago and suffering the last 8 years with a plethera of symptoms but no cause. Here is a short list of symptoms that have been progressively worse in the last few years: burning and joint pain, itching and burning skin, GI problems, heart and lung wall inflammation, sore in lymph and thyroid areas, dizzy spells, weird headaches, memory lapses, and fatigue. All symptoms are episodic ant that is even more frustrating. Normally I’m a very active person but am tired of not knowing what is wrong. Is it all in my head? Is it genetic? And is there any one out there with a simular situation?

Yes, there is a genetic factor to autoimmune diseases. My mom has Renaulds and a thyroid involvement, and even though there was no reason for me to get it, I still did. I inherited it. I understand your feeling that you have not abused your health, so why are you sick? If there is no other obvious reason than it has to be genetic. Good Luck to you and hang in there.
