I just recently had my daughter who is 12 weeks of age now. I had my first post partum period and it lasted two weeks which the Dr. said was normal, but just recieved my second period 5 days ago. I thought everything was back to normal I bleed a little bit and then stop for two days, but when I started back it was weird I could feel myself passing what I thought was clots. I would go to the bathroom to check and nothing would be on my pad, but when I would wipe myself I would get a bunch of slimy bloody discharge if anyone know what this could be would you please help me to understand? thank you tawnie

It is quite possible that your periods will be erratic some months after delivery. This is even truer if you are breastfeeding. Excessive levels of hormone prolactin usually prevents women from ovulating and having periods but some women do have both ovulation and periods or may have erratic ovulation and periods.
This may take up to a year, or as long as you are breastfeeding.
Since your doctor had no suspicions, I reckon you are ok and the bloody discharge is just blood mixed with excessive mucus, I don’t think you have much to worry about.
However, if the discharge becomes smelly or you still may think something’s the matter, you can always have yourself checked for possible infections.
