I have just been diagnosed with a liver hemangioma. I have pain that comes and goes every day. My doctor did not order a liver function test. I'm thinking I should have one done. Am I just being paranoid?

Hallo! I completely understand your concern but I would trust my doctor. If your doctor did not order a liver function test probably there's no need to. But still, if the pain comes every day maybe you should look for the second opinion or redescuss it with the same doctor, explain him your concerns... Though I read somewhere that a liver hemangioma is a noncancerous (benign) mass that occurs in the liver and that most people who have a liver hemangioma never experience signs and symptoms and never need treatment, and the most important thing, there's no evidence that an untreated liver hemangioma can lead to liver cancer. Probably that's why your doctor did not order a liver function test. Maybe the liver is not causing the pain. I hope this will help you and you'll get better soon.
