Somebody must have a success story! Please please share. I am going through all of this now too. I was on various types of bc for 13 years, ending with the generic for Mircette. I went off at the beginning of August and have gained about 6 or 7 pounds. I got my first period about a week later than normal and had a lot of cramping. I've been feeling extra depressed lately and have been having migraines, lower back pain and crazy bloating.
Like many of you have said, I feel like I gained all this weight right in my belly. It sticks out like I'm pregnant and it won't go away. I was eating about like I always did, maybe cheating a little with those summer BBQs but for the last two weeks I have been faithfully exercising for an hour a day and eating a 1200 calorie a day diet and I've lost 1 pound. In the past the same consistent focus on eating well and exercising would have lost me at least 5 pounds by now. In fact, my husband has been put on the same diet (although he gets more calories) and he has lost 6 pounds.
I'm so frustrated! I went off the pill to try to be more natural and get the BC out of my system. We aren't trying to get pregnant for another couple of years so I'm seriously considering going back on. However, I'm afraid I'll never want to get off the pill, knowing that weight gain will follow shortly.

Hi,

I had a pile of side effects coming off the pill too. Different to yours though, i felt very nausea and got pretty bad skin. Theres a doctor who works in the area of environmental medicine, her name is Paula Baille-Hamilton. Shes written some good books on how hormones can affect your ability to loose weight and stay in shape. I would look into some of her books. To start with, perhaps take a fibre supplement as this can help you detox, and up your fruit and veg to give your body all the nutrients it needs to further detox. Do this slowly though as up-ing your fibre quickly can give you some stomach pain. Or, see a naturopath or someone that works in environmental medicine, you can google for the environmental medicine and natural health associations in your area to find a practioner.

Good luck!
