I know what you’re talking about getting back into reality. My mind was so fuzzy on drugs, but I was poly drugged, not just an SSRI.

Hi Trinity, I am the same size as you (an inch taller but close enough) and I have gone from 130 to 142 and I lift weights four times a week, plus cardio 3-4 days per week. I am more of a wreck due to my body image than I am without fluoxetine. At least that is my hope now that I have decided to stop taking it!!!

So happy I found this thread post and the comments because I thought I was alone or just not doing enough... I have been on Prozac (40mg) for OCD for 10 months and have gained 23 pounds. I started at 10mg then by 10 each time until getting to 40mg.
Like many, I lost some weight at first because I was so energetic and working out so much, eating healthy and super nauseous. Then around the 5 month point it crept up, and up, and up and up. I was really frustrated and thinking I just needed to eat better and work out more. I even joined WW in hopes it would help. I've been going to the gym 3-4 times a week, tracking my eating but not starving myself, and at least walking a mile with my dog each day with little improvement. Every time I lose a pound I feel like it comes right back with an extra one.
I have been active my whole life and am tall, and have always been able to drop weight by making sure I was eating (mostly) healthy. Then the Prozac. Like others, I feel PUFFY. And like everything sticks to me? It's most noticeable (again as others have said) in my stomach and face.
I'm bummed because it did help with my OCD, but I'm not willing to be this size in exchange. I'm quitting it and am hoping to try some natural remedies. Just wanted to thank you all here for sharing your experiences.

What a blessing to have found all of you! I was beginning to lose all hope. I too have been heavy since taking Prozac 21 years ago for postnatal depression-yes, I’m a Brit! I have lost all of it and gained it back, lost it gained it back and Prozac has peppered my existence over all of those years. Pain medication and a botched spinal op haven’t helped, but I’ve always managed to lose the weight with strict low carb diets and lots of walking, which apparently is a better way to lose weight as it doesn’t create the cortisol that running does, also a weight-fiend when it’s being produced in high amounts.
I dropped the Prozac 2 months ago, I’ve been on a strict no carb diet, I’m intermittent fasting and my activity levels have increased. I have lost 3lb. This lack of response to all my hard work is unusual, but I’m 51 now and taking bioidentical HRT, which hasn’t increased my weight before. I can honestly say that if I didn’t know better, I would think I am pregnant. All the symptoms, none of which the HRT is touching!!!
So, my conclusion is that Prozac has a big impact on one’s hormones and as you know ladies, that particular issue has to be waited out.
I’ve had huge waves of absolute despair and dark moods that can’t be lifted and butterflies of irritation, my poor husband…..no definitely NOT pregnant
