Hi,
I started taking birth control pills one month back. After the first 21 days, during the interim period exactly on the 24th day some spotting started. I thought it was my period and started taking the next cycle of pills as I was of the opinion that I should start my pills on the first day of my cycle. Now for the past 10 days, I have some bleeding. The flow is not heavy, but it is there. Will there be any problem because I started taking the next cycle of pills without giving the required 7 day gap? Should I stop taking the pills? Should we follow some other method of birth-control as well?
I would really appreciate a reply as I am totally confused and a little nervous.

This is what i would do. Stop the pill and use an alternative method for now. You are new to birth control so the spotting u saw on the 24th day was "break thru bleeding" not the start of your period. Lots of BC beginners experience this, it is normal. What u should have done was carry on and get thru the first pack. You probably would have started your period about 2 or 3 days after the last pill. I would stop the BC now and get on the right track again. Just start a new pack when your new cycle starts.
Just REMEMBER, although you were on BC, got a little messed up and started all over again, YOU MUST use alternative protection. The first month of BC is not a sure thing. Use something else thru the whole pack, let your period come, start your second round. By this time an alternative won't be necessary, unless you want to. I am big on condoms, sorry thats just me. Don't be nervous, it can be confusing. But ur ok now.

After taking all the 21 pills you should not take anything for 7 days and start a new pack exactly on the 8th day...whether you are bleeding or not.
If you find that you lose track of dates...you can also get a pack containing 28 pills. If you choose the 28 pack...you will have to start a new pack as soon as the old one is finished.
hope this helped
