I am changing my lifestyle towards observant Judaism, and masterbation is considered a big sin.  There are many obligations incumbent upon leading a religious lifestyle, but I have found the commandment of abstaining from masterbation to be the hardest.  Other commandments take a certain amount time and effort, and then you can resume with your own interests, sort of like putting on a garment, you can put it on or take it off as you wish.  The urge for sexual satisfaction is a daily struggle, and in time only gets harder as the semen and testosterone levels increase.  I have consulted my close rabbi, and he informed me that the Torah advises man to marry young and express his sexual desires with his wife, and to refrain entirely from sex and masterbation is not normal and will lead to psychological disorders.  As of today I have gone 39 consecutive days without emitting semen in any form, and I would like to share a few of my strategies for winning this battle.  First, I have noticed that my energy levels are getting progressively larger the longer I hold out, and that long distance running has been a great outlet to blow steam without blowing my load ;).   Secondly, when I feel a very strong sex urge, I prayto g-d to help me, and usually this will make the urge go away. Third, I try to always stay busy, since I think boredom more than anything brings a person to masterbate.  There is no doubt that this is a very challenging decision to stop masterbating, however, I can attest that it is a very rewarding feeling to overcome this strong inclination.  g-d bless those who win this battle.
