Hi there! The explanation is actually pretty simple. It is up to the human anatomy.

Clitoris in females is similar to penis in males. It is filled with nerve endings and very sensitive to stimulation. Clitoris is even more sensitive than penis is although the area covered is smaller.

Vagina is not so populated with nerve endings. There are some but most of the nerve endings are situated at the opening and that area is sensitive but not other parts as well.
The reason of this is because vagina is also a birth canal, so there could be problems with sensitivity during labor.

The best position for an orgasm is a woman being on top when her clitoris is being easily stimulated.

That was mostly rubbish, true, a clitoris has aprox. 8,000. nerve endings and the head of a penis, aprox. 4,000. What position feels best is completely personal tho! And may even change as a women gets older, has children or any number of considerations. The 'G' spot is the internal orgasm mechanism you mentioned and can be difficult to locate even upon self examination and masterbation so I suggest you speak honestly and openly to your Dr. about it and have she/ he explain its position to you.... thats what Dr's are for and tho you might be deeply embarassed, they wont be!! :)
