Hiya, when my son was born he wasn't breathing and began fitting within minutes of birth after being rushed to a hospital specialising in treating babys he began brain cooling treatment to help prevent any brain damage or side effects from the fits which at this point had no known cause. After brain cooling MRI EEG and numorous other scans an several weeks in hospital they put his difficultys down to a stroke in birth or just before. What signs can I look for to know if there is any lasting damage? He is now 9 months old making no effort to crawl can not hold his own bottle or push him self up with his arms as though to crawl, has anyone been in this situation and have any answers?

Does he look at you and acknowledge your presence? Does he smile and make cooing noises? Normally strokes cause paralysis on one side, hopefully he's moving his arms and legs ok.. Babies do things at their own pace but if his crawling is a concern you can always bring it up at the next doctors appt..
