There is a general believe by all age groups that young people are happier than old ones but a couple of studies showed just the opposite.
The study included 540 adults in two age groups. One group was aged 21 to 40 and another one over 60. Both groups had a task to predict the levels of happiness at certain ages as well as to rate the happiness of other people in those age groups.
According to the study, young people were not able to predict the levels of happiness in older age and older people were not able to remember how happy they were as youngsters.
The general opinion, as stated above, was that everybody thought youngsters were happier and everybody thought that happiness declines with age.
However, it turned out that older people from the study were much happier than the young people from the opposite study group and that people become happier over the years.
