Did you have your injection done at Stanford hospital in palo alto?? I had my injections in August 2012 at Stanford and within 3 weeks of the injection my left leg swelled up, got red(,a fever in the leg)..it blistered badly and I had to go to the emergency rm and then to wound care at a different hospital for months to receive daily antibiotic IV treatments..Each treatment took 3 and 1/2 hrs..I also had to take internal antibiotics by mouth..I thought I was going to lose my leg!!

Hi Julie
I live in British Columbia, Canada. Sounds like we experienced the same symptoms. I also required days of IV antibiotics and oral. I am hoping that insulatorms will reply to one of us soon. I am beginning to believe more and more that we all may have received a bad batch of synvisc. My leg has gotten better after surgery and with a great deal of physiotherapy. I have been taking Osteo Bi-Flex which has helped as well. Keep me updated as to whether or not you pursue a legal case against the manufacturer. Not sure that my ortho will give out who it is that he purchases the product from.

I too believe we may have gotten a bad batch of synvisc because I had gotten the injections before without a problem. I will try the osteo Bi Flex and hope it will help me too. I will keep you updated thanks for getting back to me on this..I hope your leg is much better..What kind of surgery did you have on it..if you don't mind my asking?

I had another arthroscope done. The surgeon drew 75 ml of fluid out of the knee first, which turned to gel almost instantly and then washed out the knee and that is when the 2nd unidentifiable substance came out, another gel like blob. He then cleaned up 2 tears in the meniscus and took off some of the bone spurs. I need a new knee but, they tell me I am too young!! I have kinda just gotten used to what I have left now, not sure that "getting better" would really be how I would term my situation. I'm sure you know what I mean!
I am glad I found this site as well as both yourself and insulatorms. I agree, lets keep each other updated on what happens.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Please do keep us updated and let me know if you require my information as well. Would be interesting to find out if the problems we've had are the result of the manufacturer or not.

Hi Thank you for letting me know. Hope you are healing well now that all of that goop was removed..I was wondering did the lower part of your leg get stasis where the circulation was not right and caused like a brown freckling??

Hi Burns, sorry to hear about your sister in law. I have had two arthroscope's done on my left knee. All they did was give me arthritis. I am going to go to the hospital this coming Monday to sign a release to see exactly what kind of knee replacement they used on me. When I was speaking to that attorney, he told me to find out. No one even mentioned to me about if the surgery didn't go well, and I got permanent nerve damage, or if anything else went wrong I couldn't sue the doctor. So, that is when the attorney told me I needed to find out about what kind of replacement knee they used. While I am at the hospital the orthopedic surgeon's office is connected to the hospital so I am going there also to see what date I was given the injection. I presume the attorney asked me that because there are lawsuits out against the manufacturer, and also he said that because as much as I begged and pleaded with the dr.'s assistant to stop with the synvisc injection because it was hurting me so badly, but he wouldn't stop that the dr. would also be held liable because they kept on putting that injection in until it was done. I guess that would be the only thing I could sue him for because the injection caused me to have permanent nerve damage. As far as you go, I have never heard of bone spurs in the knee before. How long after the synvisc injection did you have the arthroscope ? It sounds like that unidentifiable substance could have been the injection itself coming out, because they told me that injection was a thick substance. Once U get all of the information from the hospital and the orthopedic dr.'s files on my injection I am going to be calling that attorney back. Then I will let you know what he has to say. In the mean time take care of yourself, find an attorney as quickly as you can...Have a nice evening, Daphne
