inspired by the fact that our tollfree number here is one digit off from Sprint's activation line, we were thinking of taking credit card numbers from everyone that misdailed.

now i just need to balance out how much money i'd have to make to cover the number of years i'd be in jail... and figure out how to launder said money so that the gov't wouldn't take it from me.

hmmm. anyone wanna become a criminal with me? :wiggle:

I had my card frauded about 5 years ago...just in time to be pre-approved for my mortgage.

Thankfully I had identified the situation just before the approval. My card went from close to 0 up to $15000 in 3 days. After signing about 20 affidavits, all charges were removed and my status went back to where it was.

What was cool was that they didn't close my account -- just moved me to a different number. Then they let the guy keep charging up stuff on my old number so they could track him. Two weeks later, they busted a ring in Toronto.
:moon: to credit card fraud!

that's cool that it all panned out... credit card theft is pretty lame, right up there with ebay fraud, or old people fraud (y'know selling them all kinds of stuff that they didn't realize they were buying).
fraud would go down if you got public display (y'know they put you in that thing in the middle of town square), and get beat with a stick for every dollar you stole.

I had my purse stolen years ago in Cinti. When I finally realized it was missing, I called and had the credit cards stopped-it was about 10 hours. In that amount of time, they managed to charge about $1000--and the final insult was, it put me over my limit!

I had my # stolen and used for 5 pair of custom cowboy boots ($250/each) shipped to Philly and signed my name on the UPS slip too. I still had my card so they must have taken a slip from a store or something. I found out when I got the bill. Luckily it didn't take to long to fix. New card some letters. Buying online is so much safer.

We had our # stolen once as well. We were at a wedding in Rochester, MN, and stayed at a hotel there.

A few months later we got the bill. The thief (who obviously was an employee of the hotel) had a limo pick them up at the hotel we stayed at, drive them to the airport, and fly the thief and a guest round trip to London. Upon their return, a limo picked them up and drove them back to the hotel again. All on our CC#.

Didn't take them long to track the guy down. What a dope.

I know it's common, but there aren't that many regular posters here and we have folks who've been taken. And hasn't rtpd been taken as well?

And I would've gotten away with it too, if it hadn't for those meddling kids and that dog.

our number was stolen while we stayed at a hotel on vacation....they went to miami with it and spent over $1000 in a liquor store immediately!

now, if one charge above a certain amount goes thru, Chase will have that fraud recording thing call here; it's the ony recorded call i DON'T hang up on. mr. recording also calls if we use the card more than once in the same day for an obvious amount.

credit card fraud is the perfect cowards' crime; no wonder there's so much of it.

is online shopping really that much safer :umno:
