Hi this is Nick. I came off about two years ago, with an unusual method. I did not have to periodically lower my dosage. It was like one weekend of feeling like c**p, but being normal that next week. I was dosing at 120 mg a day, and I decided to come off and discussed it with my psychiatrist. The way we did it was through Suboxone. It is a non narcotic medication that somehow kinda gives you the feeling of methodone. It is hard to explain, but I mean you dont get a buzz, but it makes you not feel bad at all from coming off the other. However, you have to be off methodone for a couple of days before you start it. So what my doc did was this: I took my last dose (120 mg) on a Thursday. Now this is where the unusual method comes into play. For Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the doc wrote me 60 mg of oxycontin a day for those three days. I know that sounds crazy bc the whole reason I got on methodone was to get off the oxycontin, but it is just a pretty low dose for three days to help with the discomfort. Then on monday, I started my Suboxone and I felt ok but certainly not a hundred percent. But by Tuesday I was checking in at about eighty percent and after that I felt great. Like I said earlier you dont get a buzz, but it is kinda like you have your old self back. I stayed on the Suboxone for two months and then I just came off no problem. But I believe you said you were already off the methodone. If that is the case maybe you need to check into that with your doc and he can tell you if it is right for you. If not the only advice I can give you is to just remember that those withdrawals are only temporary, and if you never want to feel that bad again all you have to do is stay clean and you dont have to worry about it then. But I hope I have helped you in some way, and just hang in there and dont give up. GOOD LUCK Nick

Hello! I'm writting because i have my husband that got kicked out of the meth program and its been a month of headace and lots of pain. He has bad head ace and lots of lower back pain and lots of mood swings. Suibisidle thoughts and much more. I don't know how long this is going to be. But just last week he stepped out of the house and did'nt not come home til three days later. On the third day he comes home and tells me he had a blackout and that he did'nt know what happened or where he was. I was worried sick about him. On the second day he was gone i filed for a missing person report. Supposely the cop looked for him and could'nt find him. So i looked for him and i too could not find him. But i did call a place that he hung out and they said that they saw him two different days he helped them shovel the snow off the drive way. So now every time he goes out i get worried. Well today he stepped out at four o clock and has not been home since then. And seriously i'm thinking that he's doing something wrong. I wonder if he will come with the excuse that he blankout. I been going throu this with him and it has not been easy for espicially we have four kids. I have tried to help him but he's very stubborn. He suffers and so do we. I don't know what to do with this problem. I have been thinking of having move out. And top it out he has no license and he has my car so i don't know whats going on. I really don't want to get the police involved. :'(
