Hi everyone sorry for posting what is possibly considered a double post but I haven't as of yet found a previous one that is close enough to my situation.
My period ended about 2 days ago and I am already on my 3rd pill in the pack. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex last night but we only did for a couple of minutes before we stopped and settled for oral instead since we didn't want to go too far without a condom.
I know that pre-c*m is a danger in these situiations but I am very good at taking my pills on a regular basis at the same time.
The part that is scaring me this time is that due to changes in my work schedule I took my first two pills about 6 hours later than my usual time.
I'm wondering how much the time discrepancy in taking my pills will actually affect the effectiveness of the birth control at preventing pregnancy? and if I should be worried enough to consider a form of EC like the Plan B "Morning After Pill" ?
Any responses are appreciated greatly,
Cris

well first off you should always take the pill BEFORE doing sex to prevent pregnancy, just read the directions on the pack to see how long you have to take the pill before having sex....and in the case of the morning after pill, that is basically good for the morning after you have an accident, basically it kills the sperm before they can burrow into the egg.....from what I've heard (even though I'm a guy) the morning after pill is used when the condom breaks or if you forgot to take your pregnancy pill to prevent the sperm from burrowing into the egg......hope that answers your question

Umm... ^ you take the pill once a day, it doesn't matter if it is taken before or after sex because you will still be protected from taking the pill the day before. You don't have to take the pill at the exact time every day (although it is most effective...) so my guess is that that bit of a time difference wont hurt you. You should find a new time to take the pill though, so you can take it at the same time every day. Just to be safe. Maybe check your schedule for a good time.
I really doubt that you could become pregnant from this. One, because you have been taking the pill... and two, because he didn't actually cum inside of you. It's far less likely to become pregnant from precum than it is if he actually cums inside of you. I wouldn't use the morning after pill in this situation. Maybe if he had cum inside of you and you had missed a pill completely... however the decision is up to you. If you feel worried enough...
And just FYI, the morning after pill can be taken up to 3 days after the sex, but its most effective the sooner you take it after the 'mistake'...
Hope some of this helped!
