ok, this will take me a minute to explain, but stay with me, i really need answers/advice. ok, so im 18 now, but when i was 17, a junior in highschool, my entire junior year i had very irregular periods due to playing sports...cross country, soccer, then track. i would not have my period during cross country or track but i would have it really badly during soccer since it wasnt as intense and during the summer. i have really bad mood swings and anger problems, plus i couldnt get my acne to go away, so my parents wanted to put me on birth control pills to regulate my periods, balance my mood out, and help out my acne. i was i was on 3 different kinds for about a year, the first being a weird name i cant remember, which gave me really weird and painful side effects, the second was ortho tri-cyclen, which i loved, but it got too expensive so i switched to the "chemical equivalent" tri-nessa...and that gave me really bad mood swings, tender enlarged breasts, and painful periods with alot of bleeding. i had never had a pap smear before because i was 17, but now that im 18 and i need to renew my perscription i had to get one. i ended my last pack as usual, had my "withdrawal bleeding" period the week after, but had unprotected sex the first or second day of bleeding when my boyfriend cummed inside me. i had my pap smear exam done about a week after that (i didnt have sex after the time on my period)...it has now been almost a month since my withdrawal bleeding. i did have some brownish reddish discharge about a week after my period and there was some spotting my gyn said when she did my pap smear. she said that that was normal because id been on bc pills for a year and had just come off of them so my body was adjusting...but im still worried that i could b pregnant. is there any chance that i could be? is it likely or very unlikely? i really would like to know so i can just get it off my mind and stop freaking out every day when my period doesnt come. i dont know if having unprotected sex during the first or second day of withdrawal bleeding is risky...but the thing is that i didnt start my next pack. sorry it took me a novel to get it all down, i just didnt want to leave anything out that could be of help. respond as quickly as possible! thank you!

Hey! It's okay that it took you a novel, more information is better than not enough.
Unfortunately, there is no set time for when someone's body decides to 'act normal' after ending BC.
For myself, I never had withdrawal bleeding when ending my BC (and I'm guessing what you meant by that was it was bleeding due to not starting a new pack and this was not your menstrual period? Sorry if I'm unlcear on that, I've been up way too late for almost a week).

So, I'll just get to the basic facts. From what I understand, it really depends on the dosage of hormones you were taking. For example, I was on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen Lo which has lower hormones, and I could have very likely gotten pregnant immediately after ending my prescription. Many women are able to get pregnant within the first 3 months of ending the pill. My doctor did tell me though that after ending it, it would likely take me 3-6 months to regulate.
Of course, as with everything that is based on hormones, it's different for every person. So, in short, there's no way to tell how susceptible you were to becoming pregnant.
And yes, there is a possibility you could have been fertile at the time you had unprotected sex. I would recommend getting a Home Pregnancy Test (I would recommend First Response, as it is able to detect lower amounts of the pregnancy hormone).
Good luck, and stay safe in the future. I know it's really hard stressing about whether or not you could be pregnant.

withdrawal bleeding is the "period" you have on the fourth week of taking pills, the period that ovulation doesnt occur, but bleeding does. i finished my last pack of pills, had a period (withdrawal bleeding with no ovulation) and had unprotected sex on the first day of that and im scared that i could be pregnant. its exactly a month after my last period (the one at the end of my last pack) im not on BC pills anymore and my period hasnt come. after my last pack i just didnt start another one, i didnt stop in the middle of a pack, so the bleeding i had was the regular monthly period without ovulation that you have when youre on BC pills. i really want to believe that my body hasnt even remembered to ovulate yet. i really want my period to come so i can start my next brand of BC pills to maybe help me out with my hormone levels. i dont even feel any symptons of anything. no pms symptoms, no pregnancy symptoms, i just feel normal, just a little stressed out. when can i expect my period to come?
