I'm a 40 year old single mom, had 2 miscarriages before my son. Had to have cryotherapy on cervix this Feb. Bowel problems sent me to a GI doctor, who did a colonoscopy. Only thing he found was something pressing on cecum. CT scan found a cyst on left ovary and enlarged uterus. Pelvic ultrasound found a uterine fibroid 3.5cm x 4.5cm. I have weird discharge, frequent urination, constant pelvic pain, pains that shoot down my legs and in my back - comes and goes, and am more tired than I should be. I'm in college and work part time to make a better life for my son. I couldn't get in to see my regular OBGYN and saw another doc in their group. This man told me that since I wasn't incapacitated, I needed to take ibuprofen and deal with it. He also told me that the frequent urination was caused by the weight of the fibroid making my uterus press on my bladder. Now if all that isn't call for treatment of some kind, I don't know what is. I don't have health insurance, but I'm getting a second opinion next mo.. Am I wrong to think that doctor did wrong by me? What now?

As you know most docs are so impersonal. But the doc may be right. There are other options but it usually starts with Ibuprofen. I have the same issues. Mine is about the same size and I just did a MRI. I am considering UAE. Check it out. Google it. Talk to your doc.

I know this is a year later and I hope you found a new dr to help you out. That dr blew you off and you shouldn't have to deal with that. I am having the same issues as you. I also have a golf ball size fibroid. Ibuprofen does nothing for me. I have back pain and cramping all the time. I am scheduled for a hysterectomy on July 10.
