Ok I am in need of some help
I had an MRI a few years back for my back and the radiologist noticed a small fibroid. No problems.
Last year an ultra sound showed a fibroid 6cm and a cyst on my right ovary.
Follow up ultra sound the right ovary was now fine and the fibroid was 6cm.
8 months later the fibroid is 10cm and I am scheduled for a hysterectomy. Because if the size and the rapid growth I chose this instead of embolization.
Upon waking from sugery I was informed by my Dr that it wasnt a fibroid but a tumour on my rught ovary, Naturally I am surprised with a ton of questions. He said the tumout was similiar to a fibroid and that would explain how the errer was made on the ultra sound.
My questoins
Surely when the fibroid was 6 cm they knew it was not on an avary. Plus original ultra sound showed a fibroid and a cyst.
I have had 4 ultra sounds and the last one (3months pre op) showed it was pediculated. I even questioned whether this was my bodies way of cutting off the blood supply to the fibroid.
Is it possible for a fibroid attach itself to an ovary and using the ovary to grow? or detach and then reattach itself to an ovary I had a hysterectomy/and my ovaries removed as well. The Dr said the tumout was similar to a fibroid so that is why the technician made the error.
I cant help but think that it was all for nothing. My Dr would have started the hysterectomy ( I think) at the bottom of my uterus and worked his way up to the growth. If the fibroid/tumour wasnt on my uterus it would have been too late to stop.
I cant help but question the sugery.
If anyone can help my put this to rest and move on I would be greatful
