Hi, what is the risk of uterus perforation during an abortion? I am a bit afraid since I’ve heard of it happening to some my cousin.

Hi, a perforated uterus may arise due to cesarean delivery scars, and rupture in the absence of a previous scar is rare. Uterine trauma can develop as the result of vigorous lab. It can happen due to uterus stimulation with oxytocin or prostaglandins. it is very common to have trauma as result of the attempts to remove a retained placenta manually or with instrument. Women who have undergone classic hysterotomy have higher rate of uterine rupture in subsequent pregnancies. Having previous caesarian, also puts you on higher risk. An ultrasound is the most precise way to determine the uterine rupture.
