Hmmm... I'm not so sure what you are asking. 

You're interested in the side effects of joining the gym, or the side effects of leaving the gym?

In either case, there don't have to be any. The good thing about the gym is that you can get advice on how to perform the workouts you're doing properly, using the correct technique, and you can also get advice about how much you should be doing when, and so on. If you are already an experienced weight lifter, there is no reason you can't accomplish the same at home or out and about.
