I am a sexually active man, and I am not monogamous and I don’t use condoms very often. Recently I felt pain during urination and that mail groin area was little swollen and tender. I suspected some STD. My doctor told me that I have epididymitis. What is epididymitis? Can anybody, please, explain to me?

I had epididymitis last year after surgery because of problem I had with genitourinary tract. It is inflammation of the epididymis, the tubular structure that connects the testicle with the vas deferens. It is caused by spread of infection from the urethra or bladder, and most common organisms (for heterosexual men) are gonorrhea and Chlamydia. There are also other non-infectious causes, like some medications. I hope that it is clearer for you what epididymis is. Use condoms in the future!

Epididymus, is basically inflammation of the tubes that connect to the testicles.
I used to have it, and it was because I was wearing fitted boxers all the time, but when i wore regular underwear (tightie whities), the epdidymus got alot better! I think that fitted boxers did not offer enought support, and the inflammation could not heal.
I have to wear underwear when i sleep (regular underwear, not boxers or fitted boxers) as well, or the pain comes back.
