I love xc skiing, but I'm terrible at it.

Put me down for curling - probably the only the athletic event I could ever do somewhat passably.

Ski jumping - Yeah, baby!
And what a lot of people don't realize is is that the jumpers are never more than 10 to 15 feet off the ground. It's a terrific optical illusion when you watch it (epsecially on TV).

And what a lot of people don't realize is is that the jumpers are never more than 10 to 15 feet off the ground. It's a terrific optical illusion when you watch it (epsecially on TV). Yep. The camera angles have a lot to do with it. Also, with the lenses zoomed as much as they sometimes are, it can appear as if the jumpers are way off the ground. Still, 10-15 feet is still plenty high enough, especially if something happens and you go out of control. I mean, I wouldn't look forward to adopting the flying position and being dropped - straight down - from 10-15 feet. But add a slide down the jump, into the air, and then dropping onto the ground - from ten feet...at what speed? Fuhgeddaboudit. But it would be thrilling!
