Hi everybody,
Elsie isnt my real name btw :)
Yeah, everyone is saying about this white stuff and i have been getting thats for weeelllll over a year!
Recently, i have also been getting really angry and sad, somtimes im crying and punching the walls, pains where your period pains are, and sometimes thay are quite painfull :/
I get some brownish discharge stuff but i really dont think its blood. Im going to be 14 this year and, my body is quite mature so i would have expected to have started by now!
I'm worried incase it comes in school, and i carry a pad with me anyway, but im terrified incase it leaks onto my skirt cos i wont be wearing it!!
And one more thing, whatwould i tell my mum wheen i do start?!
thankyoo
Everyones body is different, we all start at different times. Although your body may appear mature enough for your period, it's not ready yet on the inside.
Your mood swings are normal, I was severely depressed before I started, to the point where I considered suicide many times. Then a few nights before I started(I just started Tuesday night) I snapped out of it. Something that had happened that day got me thinking "if I killed myself I'd never be able to experience that again" and then I immediately thought "WHOA, suicide?!?! I'm crazy! I could NEVER kill myself!!!" and I'm fine again.
So don't let the mood swings scare you, and if you get depressed, keep in mind that that's all that's happening, your body is preparing for its menstrual cycle and it releases different endorphines which cause mood swings.
And the brown discharge is completely normal. It's a pre-period sort of thing, I got it about a month before I started my period.
Also, so your underwear and possibly skirt don't get ruined, wear pantyliners. They keep your underwear from getting dirty from the discharge and it'll also keep your underwear protected in case you get a surprise period.
And when you do start your period, just keep in mind that your mom went through this too and she can help you, and say "mom, I started," and she'll know what you mean. that's what I did. Well, I actually said "mom I *think* I started" cause I wasn't actually completely sure cause I had no cramps, but my sister said her period started like that, too, and she eventually got cramps.
I hope my rambling helped you! ;)

My mood swings are getting worse you know...
the slightest thing make me on the edge of tears, and when that doesnt happen, im just sitting there and feeling upset for no real reason.
Also, i have a good night sleep every nigh (approx 9.30=7am) and i am exhausted and nearly falling asleep during lessons and when i do get back into bed, i fall asleep within about 7 mins and sleep right the way through. this has been happening for about 2-3 weeks? does this have anything to do with my period?
thanks :S

I'm not sure about the sleeping and exhaustion though, because I usually sleep at like 3 AM and get up at noon. But you should try googling if exhaustion can be caused if your period is coming. And you could ask your mom or friend or sister or anyone you're close to, really, if they went through the same thing.

also a way to tell when your going to start is about 6 months to a year after you get dicharge ( white sticky stuff ) and your will start to get light/ heavy cramps depending on the person. and your breast will start to develope, and you will have pubic hair. hope this helps you girls:)
p.s i havent had my period yet either :-(

By "normal," I mean the flow will be changing and sometimes it's longer or shorter than a month between periods, etc. Some girls' periods are always changing, and they never get used to it, which really isn't a big deal, just wear pantyliners when you're not on your period just in case you start unexpectedly and then put a pad on.
