We are currently 4 months into our first pregnancy, and I am having some white discharge. Is this normal to experience this around this time of pregnancy?

The increased discharge you are producing in your pregnancy is totally normal, it is the same discharge you occasionally used to see on your underwear before you got pregnant, it’s only a lot more of it now, due to the increased production of estrogen. As the time passes, you will be getting even more of this discharge, but it will be somewhat different in appearance, could be looking a bit slimy sometimes.
If it ever happens that you notice your discharge looks a bit weird, with a presence of blood, it could indicate the preterm labor so you make sure you call your doc if you have some doubts.
What you could do to collect this discharge which is produced in greater amounts is wearing panty liners. This is what I did when I was pregnant, I used these daily ones, I felt more comfortable with them as I was scared it could make the visible spots on my trousers as well.
What you must not do is wearing tampons, and also you shouldn’t be using shower gels. Keep your vaginal area clean with water.
Good luck with your pregnancy.
